Jane Larkindale, Ph.D.
Director of Translational Research

Jane Larkindale has worked for MDA since 2007, and currently directs MDA's translational research program. Dr. Larkindale was instrumental in the start up of MDA Venture Philanthropy (MVP), and has subsequently supervised its scientific program. She completed her D.Phil. (Ph.D.) in the department of plant sciences at Oxford University in the UK in 2001, which she attended on a Rhodes Scholarship. She brings a broad background in science to MDA, having previously done research in areas as diverse as molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, plant science, medical physics, marine biology and industrial chemistry. In the course of this research, she has published numerous original research papers and review articles. Prior to starting at MDA, she worked as a research scientist in the University of Arizona's biochemistry department. Throughout her scientific career, Dr. Larkindale has attended business development classes and workshops, and frequently acted as the "scientific expert" for discussion groups and debates on current topics in science. In her free time, Dr. Larkindale volunteers for the Southern Arizona Rescue Association, taking part in about 50 search-and-rescue missions across Pima County each year. She enjoys adventure races and ultra-distance running.
Regan Harrison
Research Projects Coordinator
Regan Harrison joined MDA in November 2011 as the research projects coordinator, and is responsible for the administration of MDA’s Translational Research Grants Program. She has extensive experience working in research administration, and most recently worked at Denver Health and Hospital Authority as the research compliance analyst. She also served as the manager of the Children’s Hospital Colorado Research Institute in Aurora. She brings experience to MDA, as she's worked with sponsored research; regulatory compliance management; protection of human subjects; and development and implementation of clinical research policies and procedures. Regan has participated in hospital research compliance, corporate compliance, research council and regional biosafety committees. Regan enjoys art, music and long walks in the beautiful Arizona outdoors. |
